ITINERARY 


Day 1 - Arriving into Bogota - Afternoon free.

 

Arriving in Bogota - Reception at the airport and transfer to your hotel located in the historical center of the city. Checking into the hotel. Free time in the evening to have a first insight into the atmosphere of the Colombian capital.

Day 2 - Walking tour of the most authentic place in the city.

 

In the morning, discover the city center of Bogotá. Walking around the capital, you will be led to the most authentic places in the city. The colonial center of La Candelaria is a place full of charm with its brightly colored houses, its balconies of carved wood and flowery patios. Visiting in the morning the Bolivar Plaza and the Chorro de Quevedo plaza with its artists and its colonial houses.

 

At midday, you will stop to enjoy a traditional lunch in the historical center. In the afternoon you will visit the Gold Museum where you can find the largest collection in Latin America of pre-Columbian gold objects, dating back over 30000, and beautiful emeralds. 


You will also visit the Botero Museum which has a large collection of this famous Colombian artist’s works as well as other masterpieces by some of the greatest impressionist and modernist artists (entrance to the museum included).

Day 3 - Transfer to the Salt Catheral - Raquira - Villa de Leyva

 

Collected from the hotel at 7:30 am. Transfer to the first stop in Zipaquira, and visiting the Salt Cathedral. The trip will then go to Raquira to view the beautiful buildings and typical art, known for its high quality and its artisanal abundance 

 

Heading to Villa de Leyva by 3.00 pm to have the rest of the day to explore the beautiful town.

Day 4-Horseback riding in the surrounding of Villa de Leyva.

 

On this day you go on a horseback riding adventure in the surroundings of Villa de Leyva. First, you will visit Casa Terracotta. Its made by hand using clay and baked dry in the sun. It is known to locals as the Flinstone House. Directly after the tour will continue to a small but impressive museum called el Fósil. As Villa de Leyva used to be covered by the sea in the past, you can admire the fossils of different sea creatures, up to a 7-meter long kronosaurus. In the afternoon you will return to your hotel in Villa de Leyva, and you are free to enjoy the city by your self.

Day 5 - Heading back to Bogota and flight to Neiva.

After breakfast, returning back to Bogota to catch a flight to Neiva, stopping at a few of the popular locations along the way. Upon arrival into Bogota, transfer to the airport for a flight to Neiva and transfer to the hotel.

Day 6 - Transfer to Tierradentro and hike to the Tierradentro pyramid.

 

Early morning, you will take private transportation to go to Tierradentro.
Upon your arrival in Tierradentro in the afternoon, free time for lunch in the village.
Then you will go for a walk to the Tierradentro Pyramid. Evening free.

Day 7 - Hike to El Aguacate (the Avacado) and visit the archelogical graves.

 

In the morning, a hike along the river up to the top of El Aguacate to appreciate the wonderful panoramic views over the region and visit archeological graves. At midday stop for lunch.
In the afternoon, visit the ethnographic museum and the installations of the Hipogeos Archeological Park 1 y 2, and the statues of the Duende.

In the late afternoon private transfer to San Agustin.

Day 8: Visiting the Archeological park of San Agustin. Afternoon horse ride to La Pelota.

 

In the morning: you will visit the Archeological Park of San Agustín. You will find about 130 statues that were found there or collected from some other places. You will visit all the most important places in this Archeological Park (Archeological Museum, mesitas, Fuente de Lavalpatas, Alto de Lavapatas...)
At midday, you will head for lunch in town and have a little time to relax.
In the afternoon, a horse ride up to the site of la Pelota, where you can observe the last colored statues of San Agustín, and to la Chaquira, magical place with an amazing view over the canyon of the river Magdalena.

Day 9: Purace National park and the Salto del mortino Waterfall. Afternoon coffee tour.

 

In the morning traveling to the National Park of Puracé, along the Magdalena River near San Agustín, in a small town called Hula, where you will find the Salto del Mortino waterfall. The spectacular 170 meter drop is breathtaking. You will then continue onto Salto de Bordones, this beautiful 400m (1,300ft) waterfall is Colombia’s tallest uninterrupted waterfall. Although there is no access to the bottom, there is a view across the valley with panoramic views of the cascade and the surrounding mountains; this can be reached from a 10km dirt road leading up the mountain. 

 

Heading back to San Agustin for lunch. In the afternoon you will have the chance to do a coffee tour.

Day 10: Transfer to Popayan, afternoon guided tour of the historical center.

 

In the morning, private transportation will take you to Popayan, the white city, one of the most beautiful colonial cities in the country.
Free time for lunch in the historic center of Popayan.
In the afternoon, you will enjoy a guided tour of the historical center and visit the monuments and the main churches.

Day 11: Transfer to Cali and afternoon to explore the city.

 

Departure in the morning in private transportation to the city of Cali. On the way, you will pass by the Silvia market where you will find the indigenous Guambianos, who come every week to shop in the market.
Free time for lunch on the road or in Cali.

Discover Cali, a modern city in the Cauca Valley in the south-west of Colombia, that is internationally recognized as the capital of Salsa, dance and street parties but also famous for the beauty of the women, the historical sites and the entertainment areas.
In the afternoon you will climb to the Cristo Rey, the best viewpoint over Cali, then you will visit the Chapel San Antonio and the historical center of the city. You will have the chance to visit 2 Salsa schools and you will attend a rehearsal at the school which has been world champion of Salsa 6 times: the Latino Swing.

Day 12: In the morning flying to Cartagena and afternoon free.

Day 13: Private walking tour of the walled city of Cartagena.

 

Collected from the hotel for a private walking tour around the old walled city of Cartagena. This is the best introduction to Cartagena, the walled city, a UNESCO World Heritage site is famous for its legends, beauty and old colonial stone walls. You will be accompanied by a guide to provide an understanding and to learn about the origins of the so-called "crown jewel of the coast", the Caribbean storehouse for all of the gold and other resources the conquerors stole from the continent. On the walking tour, you will relive the battles and victories of the Europeans, the empowerment and influence of the afro cultures, explore the narrow colorful colonial streets, see the contrast of antique -modern areas and many more.

Day 14: Today will be a free day to relax and explore the city or Rosario islands.
